New Years Resolution!!

This is more of a New Year Plan than a resolution.  Before Christmas I did a quick tidy of the house (when I say quick I mean a couple of days, to do it properly would take weeks) and have come to the conclusion  that my main problem is laundry.  I sorted out the rooms upstairs and had piled everything onto the bed and sorted through it.  I put everything that had a place away but was left with a mountain of clothes to wash or iron.  My first job this year is to get on top of this and my resolution is to KEEP on top of it.

There was no way I was going to spend my christmas break ironing and washing so it has sat in neat piles in my bedroom for the last fortnight.  It's my day off on Friday so I intend to spend all day ironing (whilst enjoying wonderful daytime tv).  God knows where I'm going to put it all but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.  Then I need a system.  Any ideas would be gratefully received.

First attempt a burger buns!!!

I'm trying to be really good with my money this month which means no unecessary trips to the supermarket.  You know the ones, you go for a bottle of milk and end up spending over 10 quid.  Anyways, the kids wanted burgers for tea.  Great I've got burgers in the freezer.  Unfortunately no fresh buns to put them in.  I thought I would try to make my own.  I've made bread before but it never seems to have the same texture as bread you buy in supermarkets.  I wanted soft fluffy buns without a hard crust.  After much searching and comparing of recipes I came up with a one which sounded ok and had all the ingredients for.  I don't have a bread maker so had to do it by hand.  I rolled each one into a small ball in my hand instead of rolloing out the dough.  They turned out beautifully soft and spongy.  I made 14 from this recipe.  Next time I think that I will let the dough rise in the bowl before rolling into buns and letting rise again.  I might also use a little less sugar and a tiny bit more salt.  But for a first try I think that it was a success.  The kids couldn't get enough.  Can't wait to have one with thick cut ham and pease pudding.

I know they are not all round but they look ok don't they.

This is where I got the recipe http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/soft-sandwich-buns/detail.aspx

Try them they are lush :-)

Let's get started...........

Kids...
Work...
Just two of the things which make me look like the most disorganised of housewives.  In actual fact deep down I have the intentions of someone who is very organised but somehow I get lost along the way.  Many a time I have tried to put a stop to the chaos but something always seems to distract me from the task ahead.  Who wants to do a full days work in the office then come home to more work?  I'm feeling now that the state I have let my house get in is affecting our lives.  It really gets me down sometimes.  Don't get me wrong it's nothing like the horrors you see on how clean is your house or anything like that.  Our living areas are mainly tidy but we tend to accumulate clutter behind chair and in corners.  My kitchen is tiny so it becomes very difficult to keep it looking clutter free.  It's the upstairs which is the main problem.  Get that sorted and then our lives will be calm and serene (in theory).  No more will we end up wasting an afternoon looking for lost paperwork or find that kids new toys have never been played with because they ended up under a pile old clothes and laundry...I'M GOING TO WIN THE BATTLE WITH MY CLUTTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most of you probably think that I'm crazy but I just thought that sharing this with other's will help me keep up the momentum until I reach my goals.
Join in with me and let me know how you organise and keep yourself sane.  Share your before and after pictures.  It might be fun!!!!!;-)
